African Left-Handers Foundation:
Statement in Support of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

United to end Gender Based Violence

As a foundation deeply committed to advancing human rights, fostering equity, justice, and human dignity, we stand in solidarity with the campaign for 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. This critical initiative shines a spotlight on the pervasive and devastating impact of gender-based violence (GBV) while galvanizing collective action to eliminate it in all forms.

Gender-based violence is a profound violation of human rights, perpetuated by societal norms, structural inequalities, and systemic failures. It transcends borders, affecting women, girls, and marginalized groups disproportionately, robbing individuals of their safety, opportunities, and futures.

As African Left-Handers Foundation, we reaffirm and pledge our commitment to the fight against GBV. We endeavour to challenge all forms of harmful practices and attitudes that violates women, girls and all other vulnerable groups in all our communities. We call on all institutions, communities and individuals to prioritise GBV prevention and response, strengthen legal systems and frameworks and allocate resources to support survivors of GBV.

In 2024, let us move beyond awareness to tangible action. We urge everyone to stand united in SAYING NO to violence and to champion gender equity in every sphere of influence. Together, we can dismantle the barriers that perpetuate GBV and build a future rooted in respect, safety, and equality for all.

Change begins with each one of us.
